In the name of the Internet

Disruption was on the agenda when the Danish Internet Forum, The Danish Business Authority and a number of partners yesterday held Internet Day & Danish IGF in a packed Tivoli Hotel.

New digital business models, the fourth industrial revolution, big data, virtual reality, IoT, smart toys, artificial intelligence, security and many other digital topics were discussed throughout the day.

More risk-taking

Among the speakers were angel invester Monty Metzger, who gave a colorful picture of how the technological future will look like. We are going to see much more hyper reality, IoT, smart buildings, healthcare technology, artificial intelligence and robotics. As investor his message was that there is too little risk-taking in Europe and, therefore, Asia, Israel and the United States will come to head for the fourth industrial revolution. In Europe, we are investing too much in technology that is here today, and not in what will come in the future. Do not walk backwards into the future, was his point.

Data reveals all

Can our cell phones tell what we do tomorrow? Sune Lehman shared 1000 mobile phones to students at DTU and got data that could give him an insight into how we move in social contexts. By understanding how networks evolve over time, he could predict with 93% certainty how a person moves tomorrow. Sune Lehman gave us a fascinating insight into how to combine social science based on mobile data.
