Hearing regarding the role of DIFO in the fight against internet crime

DIFO and DK Hostmaster have a wish to continuously contribute to the fight against crime on the internet with the tools associated with a domain administrator. We therefore invite you to a hearing about DIFO's continued role in the fight against online crime.

The event will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at 1 pm – 4 pm in Copenhagen Towers, Ørestads Boulevard 108, 2300 Copenhagen.
Here, DIFO’s Chairman, Professor Henrik Udsen, and Director, Jakob Bring Truelsen, give presentations on current challenges for internet infrastructure providers in relation to online crime.

We facilitate a debate on the role of DIFO with the following topics in focus:

  • Should DIFO be able to suspend a domain name when a public authority requests it, e.g. if dangerous medicaments are sold on the website? Or should we, for reasons of legal certainty, first have a court to assess whether something illegal is going on?
  • Should DIFO take the initiative and suspend domain names for websites that detect phishing or malware spread? Or is it first and foremost a responsibility for the website owners?
  • Should DIFO in the future be able to suspend any domain name used in connection with the obvious risk of confusion with serious types of crime? Or continue to confine to cases where there is a obvious risk of confusion with a known domain name, logo or trademark?

This oral hearing will be followed by a written hearing.

For practical reasons, we request registration for the hearing at the email address mha@dk-hostmaster.dk.
